How can I dry my own food without using salt?

I want to dry my food (like fruit, meat and such) so I can store it and carry it with me when I travel for long periods of time. Anyone who traveled for any amount of time knows bringing your own food saves money and saving money is important to me. I however do not want to use alot of salt (or if possible no salt.) to dry my food for I am trying to cut down on my sodium intake. Plus too much salt is bad for one's health any ways. Any suggestions?

Any other do it your self suggestions (like vaccum sealing) to keep food for a long time?|||Try a food dehydrator, my girlfriend uses it to dry fruits to make healthy snacks for the kids. Bananas are really good that way , kind of like candy. Her mom uses it for every thing! Jerky is good that way, but marinade it first or it's dry. plus NO SALT NEEDED

The vacuum sealers are great, you can jar that way too. All sorts of things, put your socks in a bag, seal it and you have dry socks for hiking. Matches, yeah don't need to explain dry matches while camping/hiking.|||Use a food dehydrator. You don't need to add salt if you don't want it. I personally recommend getting or using a food saver machine as well for sealing %26amp; storing for longer periods of time.|||one of the easiest ways is to get a food dehydrator. Essentially a dehumidifier that keeps trays of food in a dry air environment to dry it. Can be used for jerky, fruits and other stuff.

You can dry stuff in a slightly warm oven , lowest setting and with the door propped open.|||No need to use salt for drying especially fruit(easiest). Spread cut up fruit over sheet pans. Place sheet pans in sun on patio or deck, cover with cheese cloth and let it go. Dry stuff in oven is also easy. I have dried just about everything in the oven. Same set up as above then put in oven at 125 degrees overnight. 6pm to 8-9am depending on moisture content. Flavor your items with herbs, spices and marinades. Once you dry the product and shrink wrap it you are good to go. My friend bought a shrink wrap machine on eBay for 16 bucks. Check there..
