How to freeze food in a freezer that does not defrost on its own?

I live in an apartment with a very old refrigerator built by General Electric. At the current moment, I just have a few cold packs in the freezer and nothing else. Before I moved into my apartment two years ago, I used to have store ice cream and other frozen foods (vegetables, tv dinners, meat patties, etc).

How do I store frozen food in these types of refrigerators without compromising the quality of the food item?|||You freeze them as normal.

No freezers defrost food otherwise they wouldn't be able to freeze them, you have to transfer them to the fridge.

I think you are asking us why if will not freeze your foods, and that is if there is something wrong and needs to be repaired.|||A fridge or freezer. Wich is it?

If you have a FREEZER that does not defrost on it's own then it is simple, every couple months or so you just take everything out and defrost it out.|||You're kidding, right? Just put the food in the freezer.
