I have 3, four month old kittens and they have a wicked food agression. They growl at the food bowl and even the water bowl. Happen to drop food on the floor and it's a free for all. They hiss and growl and claw you if you try to take it away. None of my other cats have this food aggression so why do they? How can I stop it before it becomes a HUGE issue?|||I put the kitten into a cage when I fed it by itself.|||I bought a kitten from a breeder and she would always eat all the food in our other cats dish then she went straight to her dish and devoured her food. If there was a fridge open or food on the table or counter she would run by and eat it. She also did the growling thing. I think it was due to always having to fight for food were she came from and not getting fed enough. I started always having food in both my cats dishes. For a little bit you will go through alot of food, but once they figure out they always have food when they want it they will calm down with there attitudes and the amount they are eating. Once you notice this change start sitting next to their dish when they are eating so they will get use to you and know that your are not there to take their food. Walking by and giving them a quick pet along their back while they are eating. Anything you can do to show them you are there to give them what they need not take it. Don't worry this will work. It might take a little longer do to the amount of cats but it worked awsome for me.|||I had a problem with this in one of my cats--the best thing I found was to feed them in separate areas---different corners of the room or different rooms entirely. Then, while they are eating, gently pet their backs--be careful of the claws!!! If you only pet the mid to lower back to tail you should be okay, and if they do happen to smack at you, you can wear gloves so they won't claw you. It does take a little while to work, it took me about 2 weeks before the bad behavior was gone. Good luck!|||are your kittens cats that were born outside. it is only natural for a kitten born out in the outside world to be aggressive like that. i
think they will learn from the ohter cats.. cats that have been born outside have the wild instint of the mother and are basically food to them if mother had to look for food all the time. they naturally are the same way. they will get over it sooner or later. when i cook before i cook so that they leave me alone if i drop something. i give them a treat .. and give it to the kittens first my cats dont do that either but the the kittens i have taken in from the outside do that. as soon as the realize that the food will be there all the time they will become less and less agressive and stop growling. the are what my husband calls them garbage cats. which in other words just have the instint born into them that they have to look for food all the time.. just keep bowls full and water full. the will in time get over it
